Associate Professor

As Associate Professor, I teach courses in medieval literature, British literature, world literature, and composition.

RESEARCH

My research interests include Old English language and literature, women characters in Old English and medieval texts, women warriors, and teaching with technology. My most recent conference papers include:

  • 鈥溾橶ho Received that Freight鈥: Beowulf Rediscovered in the Modern World鈥 at South Atlantic MLA in November, 2011.
  • a roundtable discussion on Embedded Librarians in the Composition Classroom at the National Council of Teachers of English conference in November, 2011.
  • 鈥淛ustice and Gender in 鈥榊de and Olyve鈥欌 at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in May, 2011.

I am organizing and moderating two panels:

  • Technical Communications in the Middle Ages at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in May, 2012, and
  • Travel in the Middle Ages at South Atlantic MLA in November, 2012.

My article, 鈥淲e鈥檝e Created a Monster: The Strange Case of Grendel鈥檚 Mother,鈥 was published in the English Studies (89.5, October 2008).听Harry Potter and the Legends of Saints鈥 will be published in Fall 2012 in Journal of Religion and Popular Culture.

ADVISEMENT AND COORDINATION

I also serve as the academic advisor for the Event (live performances of the poem Beowulf by storytellers).听

And lastly, I serve as the coordinator of a medieval book club.
